    door check strap ??

hi there , the drivers side door has started making a lot of noise when opening and closing , it looks as though the bit around the pillar where the check strap bolts to has cracked .
i have seen a how to repair this with a couple of bolts as opposed to welding .
my only concern is getting the door back on and lined up correctly , am i right in thinking that you just remove the hinge pins keeping the door bracket in place which would mean the door would fit back on in the correct position .
thanks for any help cheers wellsy

if you open the door on the hinge you'll find a little grub-screw near the top, this is basically keeping the 2 parts of the hinge together & stopping the door from lifting off. Warning tho it won't be easy, i've removed the screw but still can't get my door to lift off it just lifts the car up with it (but mine is covered in mud as i've removed the arch lining)

doing that will keep both parts of the hinge in place so perfectly lined up

Hi Wellsy, when i did mine, i just undone the grub screw afew turns and the door should slide up and off real easy. Be ready for the weight of the door though, they aint light.
