Only managed 15.1 @ 94 mph yesterday. I have done better in the past but can't remember the numbers.

My main problem is the big nut behind the steering wheel.

sorry to ask what will seem a stupid question.... how many of these times were manual as opposed to auto?

Also how do you get the auto's off the line quick? Mine fly's when its moving but not sure how to get it off the line quick as my past autos had a high stall converter (3000rpm) but obviously this doesn't .......

    Thanks

110mph? damn! as most people are, i'm sure, aware, it's the terminal speed that gives a good indication of the power a cars running.

Mine is an auto- and the only way I could get a good start was by powering up to 3k rpm holding on the brake...destroyed the autobox

Been making enquiries regards getting a built trans and no joy sadly. I asked Andy Frost http://www.redvictor1racing.co.uk/ who is an expert and this was his reply:

Hi Jerry,i'm not surprised you've broken one. They're not designed to shift quick enough for drag racing and the planetaries and hubs aren't beefy enough either.Without being able to adjust the parameters in the trans ECU you'll never make one last.I'm afraid i wouldn't consider doing one as you'd be disappointed when it broke and so would i..
    Thanks for the enquiry though..
    Cheers,ANDY.
So it looks like the manual box is the only way to go...

Bit of a pi$$er- was really hoping the auto could be "built". Still, Andy's da man when it comes to transmissions- you don't build a 2000hp street legal 7 second car without knowing what you're doing with a transmission! He was recommended by my mate who runs the red Chevelle (in my youtube vids).

he may not be able to help with the gearbox, but whens the engine being delivered!!!

you'll be able to step it up a cog & go all-out with a car that doesn't need to be put back for road use after the weekend

My mate with the Chevelle has suggested getting a 740 and using a T5 engine in that- mated to a TH350 it'd be a pretty interesting project. Avoids my having to miss gears lol

if your thinking of going that route i would get a 760 & twin turbo it, a 15g having 3 cylinders each with seperate exhausts. I'd still go with a proper gearbox tho

There is a science to ¼ mile times, dont ask me for all the details as i simply do know it all. But, from experience, and bear in mind some of the core members of this site used to get together 4-6 times a year at santa pod or avon park, (Happy days ) Its all in the first 60ft.

Get that right and the rest should follow, the auto's generally just running an off the shelf map or stock got better starts, whilst the manuals were always struggling for grip. The balance on the manuals is a fine one and one that few have mastered, 14.3 on a ITG filter and remap isnt bad going, Spesh IMO is the king of 60ft, he can shave half a second off someones car at times, just in the launch. Ask Wobbly Dave

Shuans 850 isnt slow, and if he has got the knack of launching there is no reason he couldnt get that time with those mods. Good on ya mate
