    Possible engine change.

As many of you know my 850 Turbo is in the garage and I've been pondering over a few ways to take it. Obviously and as many of you know I want lots of power. Anyway I know a guy who trades in cars, he brought in a 1997 V70 T5. He claimed it is a 2.5 turbo with 240bhp, after asking on here i've disovered that in fact this could well be true. He needs 600 quid because well it's a bit rough and possibly beyond MOT. Would it be a wise start changing for this engine. don't know the mileage but mine has covered about 130k but its 93. And is 600 quid not a bit high for something that has only avoided the breakers cause he traded it in.

Its just the V70 2.5 10 valve SE, pictured here with the 2 people that make life worth living, my babies.

a 1997 V70 will still be a 2.3 i believe, & in my opinion £600 is expensive for an engine which you don't know the history of & intend to rebuild anyway

That's fair. You can buy a good usable T5 for very little these days, you only need to look on flea-bay. Walk away matey.

Actually my misake its 98 not 97, my V70 is 97. See I was thinking on parts for my V70 too. But this is how I was thinking, that it was way overpriced. Problem is that here in Northern Ireland T5's are very hard to come across. Although I just missed a 96 T5s for £750 (850 saloon).

This is how I was working it out.
T5 engine for my 850 Would probably cost me £300 in breakers (although I don't really need one and true I don't know its history)
Headlamp for my V70 £25 on ebay
Roof rails for my V70 £60 on ebay
A spare set of alloys (always handy) £50 on ebay
Leather Interior for my V70 £150 in braeakers

Plus all the potage on ebay items would be over £600.
I am probably lookinat it the wrong way round to be honest and its true I don't know its history, in fact now that I think of it. Why would a 98 V70 T5 be sitting in that condition anyway?
