    What's it all about

The rev range on the S60 T5. Red lines partly between 6-7000 rpm, then true red line from 7-8000 rpm. I believe the cut out is at 7000 rpm. What's it saying then, don't go into the red line at all?

Engine revs are electronically limited to protect the engine components from ham-fisted owners. Try to over rev and the ignition cutout creates a misfire

The only way to really damage your engine is to select the wrong gear like changing into third from fourth while accelerating on the limit. THAT would do some real damage!

That said you would have to be out of your tree to be getting anywhere near the red line on the street, wouldn't you? Red line in third would be a ton or so and the red in fourth over 120,IIRC!
