Keep er lit mate, only another 800000 to go lol. Just shows how good of a car they are. I sold my very first Volvo, a 740 GLE with 288k and she was mint and still running as smooth as she did in 88.

Nice one, very impressive fuel consumption figures especially for the mileage. Im guessing the car is manual based on the near 3k engine rpm at 70 ish

I am not quite understanding this.... Both my runabout S70 2.5 and the V70R sit at about 2500rpm at 70mph??

Did the 850 T5 use a different final drive ratio to the 70 series???

    Tim..

    Tim..
Do you mean manual,Tim? The 850 T5 is roughly 26mph per 1000rpm. That's reasonably high geared. Sure I'll be corrected if wrong.

Yes, manual boxes in mine. I've been out in the S70 tonight and at 70 indicated it is bang on 2500rpm.

My 850R auto sits just under 2,500 probably 2,400 rpm at 70 but thats auto. I was always under the impression the manuals reved slightly higher than the autos....

Generally speaking, unless oil burners they do mate. Always thought the later cars were similarly geared though. That's quite surprising.

    Thumbs up

Yep,thanks Ped. With manual gearing as tall as suggested it would kill the performance completely. Volvo wouldn't be so crass.
