    Wishbone replacement?

Hi all, noticed a slight knocking today after taking the Volvo out for a change, so drove a while in it, and became gradually concerned over the noise as to where it was coming from.

When it was lowered, it had new springs and shocks, and new drop links, top mounts and anti roll bar bushes.

I took it to a local Volvo specialist today, and they had it up on the ramp and claimed it was the wishbones, with the bushes gradually wearing away from them. There was quite alot of movement in the wishbones when he showed me, and this appears to be the problem. so.....how much would I be looking at for a couple of front wishbones (im guessing the bushes are attached to them???) and also 2 x front drop links.
My local garage couldn't give me an exact price just yet, he had to consult the parts team, but he thought £145 each for the wishbones and gsf seem to have the drop links for £17.

    Thoughts???
    Cheers,

    Tom.

If there is movement in wishbones, would replacing the bushes with Poly ones stop this? or would it still require a new wishbone?

    Cheers

No you use the existing wishbones, remove the old rubber bushes and replace with the poly ones , not a bad job as long as youre halfway decent with spanners

Should tighten things up a little too which should work nicely with your lowered suspension

i would defo recommend the poly bushes, they a pain to fit into the wishbone but with the help of a vice it isnt too bad. you remove old wishbone, remove bush(s) from it and then burn off the rubber from the pin. put new poly bush into old pin and then into old wishbone and then put it back on your car.

note that the actual wishbone has 2 different bushes the front (normally the one that goes) and the rear, the front are available from powerflex, the rear from superflex. i only done fronts.

    HTH
