    Rica remap by RT Mechanics

Last Monday I went down to Russ at RT Mechanics to have my 163bhp S60 D5 given a Rica remap.

Since then I have completed about 650 miles across all different types of driving. I can safely say that I think it is excellent. Whereas before the remap there were little "steps" in the power delivery that were a little annoying, it is now completely progressive and linear in its delivery. And where other people have said it can be savage in its power delivery, I have not found that at all. With intelligent use of the throttle pedal it can be driven in any way you want it to, from a soft power delivery as it was before the remap to full bore acceleration that now lasts the whole rev range. But, the important thing is you can make it deliver in any way you like in between these extremes as well. It is so controllable. And the fuel consumption looks to be about the same as before, where I get about 600 - 650 miles to a tankful.

The service from Russ was really first class. He has just had a new phone system installed and the broadband connection was playing up. As Russ was aware I had travelled a long way, he immediately offered me the PPC remap to take away for the same price as the on-site remap if the connection was still down towards the end of the day.

I have business commitments down his way from time to time and I think I will now entrust my cars maintenance with him and coincide it with my trips down there.

I wholeheartedly recommend Russ and his team to anybody that is thinking of either having their own car remapped or that are just looking for a Volvo specialist for servicing and repairs.

    Chris.

Cheers Mrsmopp. It is good to be here. I am a born-again Volvo driver and I had almost forgotten just how good they are to drive.
