Got the perforated box on. Sounds good now but not sure if it has the power it had before. Dash guage still off the scale. Thoughts anyone?

not again lol
Help me out guys.....better to put old one back?
i would and see if you can feel a difference or try it from cold and see if it feel better then when theres no heat in the engine bay
If you're asking if there is a likelihood of the drilled airbox adversely affecting the cars performance then yes there is every possibility that it has - I thought that was talked about in your last airbox thread?
Only you can decide whether you can feel a difference in performance and whether its something you want to keep or not.
My q is a simple one....If the boost guage is still up can the performance still be down?

yes it can the airtemp can affect it hotter air means its less dense so you cant get as much in
Hmmmmm!! Just back from a wee run. Now this is strange. Before I changed the box,I was getting a slight miss on big throttle/high gear, was blaming bcs. Gone now. Guage a couple of mm off scale and very smooth, very powerful. Mbc as it was. Whatever the physics.......happy
so is that back to the standard airbox then
Drilled one mate.
glad you are happy with it
what we need is more drilled airbox threads.
And what we don't need is sarcasm.
Sooo your now saying that the drilled airbox is ok??

And what we dont need is drilled airboxes
On a serious note i wouldnt use a drilled air box as its not going to make a slight bit of difference and just contain warm air as it is not sealed.
If your wanting the different sound i reccomend getting a proper open air filter or just fit a perfomace filter.
But if your happy with it thats all that matter.
Fair point with the warm air. On the move it's a mute point..Obviously when in motion there is nothing but cool air and more of that is now flowing throught the airbox. The standard setup is constrictive.
Drilled air box won't fix misses.....it just won't sadly.
Not strictly true there sadly....when on the move, yes you get colder air etc, but you also get increased engine bay temps due to the engine working harder, turbo working, general movement in the bay from belts, pulleys etc.
Standard setup also isn't really that constrictive....more than 300hp can still be had with a paper filter on and no drilled airbox.
Heatsoak is the killer sadly when it comes to power....drilled airbox just makes holes in a sealed unit and allows heat to get directly into the system.
Sounds good now but not sure if it has the power it had before.
Right there, you suggested it might not be
As long as you are happy with it that's all that matters
