    just looking again, although capacity is 5.8 litres if you completely drain the oil in the system the total capacity is actually 6.7 litres in total... take a look at this screen shot to see what i mean:

    5w40 fully synthetic is where you should be, and change every 5k miles if you like a spirited drive/modified, 8-10k if you just plod around all day and dont labour the engine without full boost all the time/modified.

    These motors have a hot little spinny thing on the end of them called a turbo. So use decent oil.

    I've been told that changing from semi synthetic to fully, or vice-versa can cause gunk-in-the-engine type problems ...

    AFAIC if it has one type or the other in it, stick to that...

    And yeah 7 litres sounds like an additional oil cooler is in there...
