Exclamation Oil and filter req's deep pockets

As above. Changed oil and filter the other day and going by the book, bought 6 litres of 5W/30 semi-synthetic (supposedly 5.3 capacity). Had anticipated having some left for top-up if req'd. Wrong! Without draining the intercooler, the greedy bugger took nearly 7 litres. Luckily had some in another container. Not cheap!!

That does sound excessive, by the way i would go buy another 5ltr because that is the wrong grade of oil for these cars and you will burn 5w30 like it is going out of fashion,

Yeah it should be 10w 40 semi synthetic, 5.3 litres without the filter, so just a wee tad more

I bought 10ltrs to change mine and couldn't get more than 5.5 in....... 10/40 semi synthetic is cheaper too.

I put really thin, fully synthetic stuff in my first T5 and it was smoking like a chimney within a month.

ps, what is all this about speeding?

Hi Alan, The only way it will hold 7lts IMHO is if it has an additional oil cooler somewhere fitted,

That sounds like a lot of oil mine takes just over 5 litres of 10w 40 semi synthetic. I did run it on fully synthetic 5w50 but it went through that like it was petrol!!!
