    My new T5 :)

Thought I ought to put some pics up,

    here she is '96 855 T5 CD

Very happy with it so far So comfy yet so much tighter than what it replaced, the extra power is nice as well

All in all pretty good, but have a few minor things to do. It has a minor oil leak from what looks like one of the engine oil cooler connections, and something is weeping from the turbo area. It's also due a service, and I'll replace the ignition system abd PCV system. It has a slight hesistancy at times in the midrange, and as the history has no record of leads, dizzy cap or rotor hopefully they'll sort it, that and new plugs as these ones are 25k old.

Cosmetically it has some minor surface rust on the rear arches that I need to sort, and also a stone chip on the door. It's also missing the rear spoiler so will find one for it.

I don't suppose it will stay standard for long but I'm not going mad as it's meant to be the practical car of the family

Thanks guys Yes, it's 419 sand silver metallic, tends to change shade a fair bit depending how the light hits it, I wonder if it's actually a pearl. Guess I'll find out when I get some paint mixed to do the touch ups and spoiler.

850R boy - it had a new turbo oil return pipe, gasket & o-ring 25k ago when it had a major service. Could still be this I guess, but maybe it's the oil feed rather than return.

Cameron - it says CD on the log book and has most/all of the options I had down as being CD spec. Not sure if fog's were just a general option, as I've seen some CD's without them.

Mine has remote c/l alarm with glass break sensor, full leather, heated fronts, driver electric memory, child booster in rear, premium sound system, elec windows & mirrors, climate control, cruise control, trip computer, winter mode on g/box (do all auto's have this?), illuminated vanity mirrors - think that's it! Only obvious things it doesn't have is fogs as mentioned, rear spoiler (didn't know these were an option, unless it's been removed) or sunroof, but after '95 I believe it was air con or sunroof, with both being an option.

It's pretty much bang on for the spec I wanted, only other things I'd have preferred would be manual, sunroof and fogs. But you can't have it all, I was getting tired of looking!!

Ah could they have been an option then, just had a looky on Autotrader and theres a few CD spec T5's without Fogs

419 Silversand metallic isnt a pearl matey its a Metallic.

Ive ordered some for my Bumpers from a local Paint place that can make it to order, 400ml Aerosol for £9 or £ 1/4 litre of paint for spray gun was something like £8.

I'm sure it will be fine mate, just make sure you use a good quality lacquer.

I have found Halfords base coat to be OK, but no so fond of their lacquer, seems to have too much thinners/solvent in it, and even with what looks like a good, glass finish, the next day it shrinks a bit.

Prefer the U-POL lacquer myself for aerosol, although a decent 2K is the best method if you have the equipment
