Cool TheFlyingFridgeMover Carn't wait to see how you get on with it and what it goes like in the end. Might be interested in doing it to mine if you think its worth the time and money.

Any idea what you are expecting out of this set of mods??

I'd like over 300bhp, it'd be really nice to get 400 lb ft, but like I say, without a remap, and with the mods I'm fitting, I'm in unproven territory... It might work out fine, as the ecu's are self teaching to a degree. I guess I'll find out what degree that is....

Ok, figured out the pipework needed for the reverse flow intercooler setup, strangely enough right after I looked at the two pics below, it all became clear.... I'm gonna be using 3 inch stainless steel pipes, and silicone bends....

There's only a few days to go now until I can get the manifold, pipework, and decat welded on, then I'm good to go on the rebuild.

I've got her booked in on the 2nd May to get the cambelt changed, it's only been 33,000 since the last one, but I figured it would be the sensible thing to do, as I'm adding a fair bit of power to the engine.... (he says, touching wood, with fingers crossed)

Sooooo much fun to be had this summer... lets hope it all pans out as it seems it could....

when I changed my turbo & manifold from standard to my 16T & ME7 manifold I had the same issue with the gaskets, all where virtually destroyed when I took them out (or rather they fell out in bits), I used the gasket in the picture, from Volvo it cost only £3.50ish inc VAT!!!! MUCH MUCH better fit/strength!! Part number is beyond my memory sorry, ask Tim Williams!! It was him who told me!!!
hers a piccy of said kit/gasket for you to see the difference.

No problem mate. Its made from 3 or 4 thin sheets of stainless spot welded in a couple of places to hold it together. PM Tim, I'm sure he'll be happy to share the part number. Much cheaper than buying 5 of those 'fiddly to fit' gaskets.

Good luck with it - I put my 19T on the car with it up on axle stands, so I know how much fun you'll be having.

I'd wager that you'll need a remap though to see much in the way of benefit.

With regards to the Reverse flow.

Whats happening with the idle control valve which current goes into the throttle body elbow down to the bottom of the intercooler?

Nice to hear that Mick and Toni at High-Tech are still going. Used them several years ago when tuning my 405Mi16, always found them to be supremely helpful and knowledgable. You have certainly picked a good tuner.

Are you booked in for a weekend or weekday? if it was the weekend perhaps we could have a Midlands VPC meet up?

well I'm having the cambelt done the first weekend in May, and I was planning a mid week jaunt, but there's no reason I can't do a weekend. What I'll do, I'll ring mick, see if I can get in on sat 11th morning early bells, and how free he is for thereast of the day. If he's not too busy, I'll post up a thread for a last min arranged meet up, and maybe one or two could get a power run done, obviously dependant on how busy mick is....
