Angry Erratic tickover, a new prob for me to solve !!!

Hello all, thanks to all you ace peeps who keep helping me out with me s60. I have just sorted me brake servo out and now I have found that the slight problem tickover has got worse. When the servo leaked it was very slight, now the servo has been changed it is really bad. It doesn't cut out but the tickover is really erratic and drops to 500 rpm and rises upto 1400 rpm. It doesn't cut out and sometimes it is hardly noticable, any ideas? Brandon

Suggest cleaning the throttle module and the breathers. If the brain doesn't read the throttle as fully closed it will slow the engine down until the anti-stall kicks in then slow it down again. A vicious circle develops and the idle will not stabilise. Worth a go - cost is a can of carb cleaner and an old toothbrush.

It's on the inlet manifold. It's the air inlet for the engine and also where the breather system gases are drawn into the engine.

Try a can of "Wynn's Carburettor and Throttle Cleaner" about £6.. ripped the black muck right off and didn't need a toothbrush! Result on my V70 was like having a new car afterwards, I had exactly the problem of dropping to 4-500rpm and cutting out as a result!
