Had my V70 in at Volvo main dealer in Leicester today, only to find that I had to blast off to Cannock for the day, and get back again for 17:30 to collect it before they 'closed'.
I booked it in over a week ago to get the ETM changed. I explained then that if they could liaise with the warrantly people (third party warranty) to cover the costs if possible then I would be grateful - they agreed, and ordered a new ETM in for the job.
They called me today at about 15:30 to tell me that they hadn't changed the ETM as 'no fault codes were in the car'. I explained (again) that I'd had them cleared last week at my local independant, and the codes did indicate an ETM problem (they removed and cleaned the throttle body too, and said that if I had further issues, I should change the ETM). I also explained (again) that I'd already had the Volvo clean and software upgrade some 6 months earlier.
They told me that they couldn't 'just change the ETM' and get the warranty company to pay for it as if they were audited this would show up as 'under hand'. That's fine, I said, just change the ETM and I'll pay for it myself as I was already convinced that was the problem, as was my local independant.
"Sorry" they replied, "we can't change it now as the technicians leave at 16:00, you'll have to book it in...". Wait a minute, I said, I booked it in to have the ETM changed today, you've had the car all f00kin day, what have you done ? "We see no fault codes so we can't change it" they reply.
I asked them if they could see the rough idle problem and variations in idle speed. "No, the car is running fine" they said "although the technician did say it felt very fast". wtf ?
Is it me, or do Volvo main dealers not follow customer instructions ? Or have they had a deaf and blind technician in it (must have been to 'not notice'). Or have they sat with my car in their car park all day and actually done sod all ?
