My first gear (and reverse sometimes) needs a bit more pressure then usual to engage when the oil is cold and sometimes I will select another gear to 'settle' the box first.
Is this normal? once up and running the gears are fine.

Sorry it's an S40 T5 (2005).
Change the oil not that I want to start an old arguement but I used an off the shelf gl5 grade oil and have had no probs in 18months of driving. many ppl only use the volvo oil but it costs more!
"I am never wrong! Just in a position to learn something new!"
Mods so far, HLM ReMap, Goodridge brake lines, Eibach springs lowering 35mm, K&N57i filter with cold air, Strut brace, Shark fin aerial, Boost guageYES IT'S A DIESELWish list, BOV, 18" rims, Struts, Stainless exhaust, Injector Upgrade, MORE POWER!
I wondered whether the cables need adjusting maybe?
I get what you mean about the oil though though - I remember when I was 'envolved' with a Mitsi FTO the general opinion was that a 'quality' gearbox prefers a thinner grade oil and many reported a fine gearchange after sorting the oil out.
Hey chap, I just noticed your from Scotland - my S40 came from Coldstream on the reg doc
