i haven't looked into it much yet tbh, but i think the matrix is just T'd off the main coolant pipes so they can just be cut & blocked. If i'm wrong i'll just circle them together in the engine bay & block off the bulkhead mountings then

    thanks for the idea anyway

with the angle grinder needing a new disc i had to resort to second best & the jigsaw, & the front panel got it today lol

even tho my front panel had already got the centre & lower supports removed from the panel the upper part removed today still weigh'd 1.3kg

made a very handy contact at Santa Pod so got some very BIG weight savings coming up

haven't spoke to them about the roof tbh, but as someone has already gave the game away i will say there prepared to do a fibre glass bonnet, boot lid & bolt-on fibre glass front wings won't be a problem (have even been thinking of getting them to do new rear doors as well)

OE Brakes are very heavy Pedro, on my front KAD 6 pots are 3kgs and the rear KAD are 700g compared to 2.8kg for the one rear OE caliper,
so there is a lot you can save on that front, except it will cost a lot more than just junking things lol,

The main dash on these things weigh a ton too, i can weigh a bare 70 series one if you want?

Go fibreglass on the bonnet, boot, and wings, that would save a hell of a lot.

i've been in talks with someone about that & said making them won't be a problem, the wings will even bolt the same as standard so won't have to cut anything about, going to get the bootlid done as well when i get round to it

they came to me (sort of), its a husband & wife team who are currently building a race van for my bro. After seeing progress pics of the work he's done on my bro's van & his own i joked if they fancied doing any work on a Volvo, his wife who does the fibre glass work said no problem (& when i heard them quote for some other work its an offer that couldn't be refused)

after just 2days he'd already cut & chopped 8inches out of the roof line on the load area, the front is going to be the same height & single piece fibre glass. Current plans are for it to be powered by a rear mounted Audi RS4 lump . He has made alot more progress but these are the last pics that have gone public

his own van, with mid-mounted 5.7litre Chevy engine

i got the idea to do this from Santa Pod, i've un-bolted the doors lol. All 4 doors (even tho i can't budge the fronts) lift off for easy access for working on the car
