    Classic BOV questions...

    Hi

I am new to the forums but have been reading as much info as possible before signing up, Ive recentally brought a 850 t5 1996, 140k n still going well. Ive been looking into installing a dump valve, baileys dv26 resonable price, sound but mostly after hearing they can help with turbo lag and any bad pressure build up.

With fitting kits, they say not including the blanking plate for the standard re-circulating valve, but can get 1 online for 25aprox from volvo, ive lookied on my car and it seems there is no where for it, does the 96 model require this? Ive seen the s40 picture instructions posted by someone as a ruff guide is there any 850 ones anywhere? will haynes manual help?

At a volvo dealers they wernt to hot on this subject of mod-ing, is it true anything like this type of BOV can screw up turbo sensors, confusing ECU and realy making it not worth it?

Any answers would be much apreciated

    Cheers

    Nick

Its best for the car to stick with the standard recirc valve that is on the turbo. Fitting a atmospheric dump valve will cause a loss of metered air from the measured system. They cause the car to run momentarily rich for a short time while they release the air from the system. The standard reicirc CBV (compressor bypass valve) works by venting the measured air to the inlet tract after the Maf so the air is not lost but pressure is kept away from the throttle plate when it is closed.

Thanks for the info, i admit its not the answer is was after!! lol, i was thriving for that sound.... anyway, i guess due to your reason it increase the amount of engine wear over short periods of time if not directally effecting the engine management?? Maybes its best to leave it.

    Cheers tho

I have allso wanted one nick, year's i've wanted one for my 4x4, now i have this fast car, i was going to make sure i got one, it's cheaper 4 the Volvo allso, making the engine run rich for a little time would be good for a flamer in the exhaust!, joking aside, i'd like to know it's a total no no, so many people have them, i have lot's 2 learn.
