    Strange engine noise

    Hi
Wonder if any of you guys can help.
Ive got a strange metallic noise only when i accelerate the engine from 2000rpm to 3500 rpm ! It sounds like a diesel knock but its its a T5 petrol.
A mechanic freind of mine recons its the turbo ....but i never heard a turbo bearing sound like a ticking metallic sound.
another mechanic says its the Exhaust Cam Variable timing unit
    Any help greatfully appreciated

If there's no warnings on the dash, It's not likely to be the VVT.
Could be a nunbmer of things really - Exhaust manifold bolts, damaged valve or lifter.

Does it still pull ok? any smoke?

    Yep
    Manual
I did have an issue with her a few months back
    With the dreaded oil pressure
Solved that with oil sump seals and new oil pump.
Drives perfectly apart from this diesel style metallic
    Between 2-3k rpm

If you had a oil pressure fault.
The best thing to do is get a oil pressure gauge fitted to see what pressure you have on start up from cold, then let it come up to temp and see what you have at normal operating temp.
The variable valve cams need to have a good oil pressure present for them to work as they should.
Was the car driven with the low oil pressure for any length of time.
