Car mount for Asus EEE PC ?

Anyone ever come across a decent one ? Or actually have/use one ?

There are a few I've found, but they're all ugly clunky looking things - need something nice and discrete...

Given the actual size of the Asus, you will be lucky to find anything discrete tbh.
Most of them look like the mounts the police use for those monitors sadly

I hadn't, no. I've googled for hours and never come across that site. It seems however that they have no such holder...

    Thanks though!

That's one of the ones I'd found before, and out of all of them, it's the most likely candidate. I wouldn't want it stuck to the windscreen though, I'd have to make some other mounting bracket to hold it lower in the passenger side (down at seat level I think).

There's a pair of screw holes behind a plastic cover on the passenger side of the centre console which I think I could probably use (these are for mounting Volvo accessories).

Might be worth a punt if nothing else can be found - seems cheap enough...

Your are in the same boat as me, I want one of these mounts to mount off the back of the centre armrest, so the kids can watch a film while the bluetooth streams to the stereo and subwoofer do the audio bit

    Interesting. Found this :-

    http://www.dsldevelopments.com

Search for mounts for your car - there are numerous methods of mounting a device between the rear seats - some attach to headrests with an arm, and others mount to the centre arm rest for the rear passengers.

Also, search for item number 215159 - this may well be the method required for the EEE PC or similar devices. I think I've found a neat solution...

I have seen them before, am thinking of joining the two together somehow. I am going to take a punt on the holder, will let you know how it turns out. Don't go fopr their car charger though , it doesnt regulate the charge....get the OEM one from ASUS

Got one, it holds the asus very snugly, but I still don't trust these window suckers. 1.1kg hanging off a sucker that is constantly being shaken is not going to last. But there is a way of modifying it by fabricating a small bracket to join this to a brodit seat/armrest mount. Will be looking into it.

Thanks! I wouldn't ever use a window sucker to be honest, and I already have Brodit mounts for other things in the Volvo and in my Mrs' car.

I'm still considering whether I want to mount the EEE or get some other external monitor with a touchscreen linked to the EEE (and have the EEE mounted under the seat or something...)

Sounds like the mount is good then - I think I'll order one as a temporary solution.

Ah, that one. Ok, I've gone for the Brodit Proclip/UMPC slot mount system from DSL Developments. It hasn't arrived yet (they had to order it in specially) but I will report when I have it and have used it...

Will it take over a kilo in weight?

Apparently, yes. I spoke at length with the supplier asking about weight and vibration (not that vibration would be a problem as mine has a solid state drive) etc, and the strength of the adhesive pad, and they said that for an eeepc it would p*ss it.

When I get them, I'll mount and let you know.

It works very well indeed - holds the EEEPC rock solid, and the mounting position is spot on. I'll post pics when I've taken some...
