Just wondered if anyone has any ideas on how to remove the factory sound deadening pads, must admit i haven't tried much but i know they won't just peel off like i was hoping because they are well stuck down

There are 3 different types so some are best removed cold with a chisel and others hot, an S40 has 13 and they weigh over 20KG in total!

Watch the fumes if you heat them up.

Best time of year for it pedro. its fricking freezing, wait until the next hard frost then get out there early in the am before it heats up, the tar pads will be brittle, smash them up with a toffee hammer then chisel them off.

either that or heat gun for the win

I did the rovers in the summer, got one off and weighed the debris at 2k, took a guestimate based on area of pad and area left in the car and reckoned 10-14k max, took an hour to get the first pad all off, decided to leave it lol.

All fast cars long gone. Sensible family BMW 3 series now.
Still Volvo links though as my wife has a V50 R design sport and a mildly fettled T4
