    Smile Suspension modded...

I've been modifying the suspension and brakes on my Volvo over the last few days.

I've lowered the car 40mm all round, fitted drilled and grooved racing brake discs, and fitted a strut brace, to reduce bodyroll on high speed corners.... Here's the photos...

A visual check of the ride height before we started....

Front wheel off, showing the scrap brake disc, and the spring that's being replaced...

The old spring off, and the new spring fitted...

The front strut back in place....

New brake disc being fitted, and the caliper on....

Strut done, wheel on, lookin sweet....

Old spring next to new spring, came fom in there...

Re-assembling the spring seat, bump stop, and upper guide...

    Putting a spring back....

    Both rear springs done....

The new ride height.... It will settle about another 25% lower over the next few weeks...

One of the discs was rubbing a bit on the new pads for a few miles. Heated up nicely... I took this pic without flash, funny how it turned out purple, it was glowing cherry red....

The strut brace fitted, and looking sweet....

Did you renew your front strut top mounts (lower bush and upper bearing) when you stripped down your strut??

Has the glowing disc warped due to the heat??

How did you manage to keep yourself clean (assuming that it is yourself in the piccies). I did a similar job myself at the weekend and was covered in muck!!

Was it easy to refit the lowering springs on the front shocks ?

Only asking as t5pete sold me some T5R springs before christmas and i still havent changed them over, fear of the spring flying off and hitting me in the face i think

Taking them off isnt the problem, its getting the springs compressed again to get the lower ones on.
