Just wanted to confirm my suspicions on a problem with my car to see whether my theory is the same as people with way more knowledge!!
The car, 1998 S40 T4 has been running cold for a while now according to the digital engine temp readout, like down in the 50s and my blowers haven't been hot for ages. The coolant level is fine in the car.
This morning it has been a very cold day, external temp said -7, ouch!!
So I drove to work the 25 miles and even with a stretch of motorway, the engine temp was low 40s and even showing cold again. The blowers were therefore blowing cold air, not nice! Due to the engine being cold, it used way more fuel than it normally would.
I figured it just needs a new thermostat. Does that sound about right or is the fact that it's not just the blowers but the car running cold a sign of something else?
Ta!
