    Strange electrical problem

Happened today. I went shopping, put all bags in the boot went home and then I couldn't open the boot except by key. Then I checked remote locking and it works only in front door. Also, there's no light in boot, fuel gauge needle is on the bottom, reserve light is on but sometimes it goes off, and I think engine preheat doesn't work (or maybe the lamp just switches off very quickly). Any ideas what might have happened? I'd try to disconnect battery but I don't have the spanners yet.

Sounds like a blown fuse mate, or maybe a relay. Check them first.....look in the handbook for which one does what, they will most likely be on the same circuit

REM (Rear electronics module) controls most of them bits. Battery disconnect is your best option to start with, to reset the modules.

Your car doesn't have a towbar does it? If the bumper's had a nudge and the wiring got crimped it could cause all the probs you mention. Seen an XC70 which had its reverse lights on even with the ignition off. Just that problem.

Problem solved. I took out all relevant fuses (central locking, boot lid, etc..) and they were all OK but now everything works fine. Guess they just needed some prodding .
