I still think that the late 2005 S60/V70 T5 with the 2.4 T5 is a better bet. The R engine has had too much metal taken out of the block for serious tuning. I am just no longer convinced that the R is a good car with all the problems (as mentioned above). Warranties aside I just dont think they are worth the hassle. I believe that the MY2005 has a slightly smaller version of the KKK on it and has proven to be a very tunable version. Just my 2 pence worth. Mind you I cant decide whether I want a C70 ragtop next with all the scuttle shake it has. I still want a t5 Collection

Im looking at all the threads on hear and im a bit 50 / 50 now as to getting a v70 r.

Cost of running it doesnt bother me as since running a pub i do not have any household bills any more so that is not a problem.
But looking at what people have written it looks like they suffer from a few issues.

Which one doesn't,and i would still buy another one. There not so expensive to run as some of the posts on here would let you believe.
I would say merc (bodywork)and audi are more expensive to run.
If you run a pub why dont you buy a commercial for tax purposes?.
And a Merry Christmas to you all in your line of work.

First off, Dac, that s60R has been sitting for MONTHS! (I saw it back in july!) talk the price down!

Also it has a tow bar so find out what he has towed & how often... it would just be your luck if it has goosed the awd system by pulling the earth!

    secondly.....

Yeah! Mine did! £861.72 to fix it! Bawz! (most of this was labour & sticking on a new timing belt)

It's more intermittent leakage you get from it, so not really bad, but it's knowing that it needs checking all the time that gets you!

Expect a fairly good thump of a bill to fix it!

Dac, best of luck with the hunt! I'll keep an eye out to spot any gems kicking about!

If you are 50/50, now is the time to buy. I would hate to think how much my has lost over the recent months. As I said before the "R" is the most fun I've had on 4 wheels.

    Good luck mate
