rica remap need some feedback please

Hello I have been thinking of getting the rica 304 remap for my 850 t5. Reading about it on this web site and on the rica web site. I understand about the extra brake horse it gives but was wondering wot happens to your mph ! My own car is doing about 19 ish depending on how full my fuel tank is and how heavy my foot is lol. I was wondering if your mpg will improve with the remap when its not being thrashed. Also the price I think its going to about £265.00 from a local garage or is that to much can I get it any cheaper anywere in the north west.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Mark.

Not to start the old which is best chestnut again but if your set on getting it Rica'd then I would go and see Hamish in Brosmsgrove, he's doing them for £150 at the moment. As for fuel consumption you will probably see around 20-21 around town when your not thrashing it(which will be hard at first), I've had three done now and had no problems with any of them.

Going from my old T5 to the new one with the RICA, the difference is a world apart, you will not regret getting it done.

MPG has improved vastly, i saw 61.2 on the trip computer. almost fainted at the wheel.

If your on the wirral then it shouldn't cost you that much, I'm in Wigan and I took mine down. Ok it's a fair trip but it's still going to cost you less than getting it done elsewhere, even with the petrol.

I went upto Hamish for mine a few weeks back, I live down in Plymouth, Devon, a 2hr 35min drive each way.

From my experience he knows what he is talking about and thats all people care about, the previous owner added a dump valve and took off the cat so got one from a scrap yard and he fitted it and sorted out some problems the previous owner didn't do correct. Ok I was there for a fair few hours and after he sorted out the problems the bill was more than I had hoped but parts changed were through 11 years of wear so as to be expected, and so needed to be changed and I am happy with them being done through piece of mind.

I get around 18-19mpg and all my driving is generally constant start, stop and then I boot it so not too bad considering, and most is VERY short like 10-15mins!!!

You will need to run 97 octaine minimum all the time with the 304hp re-map, I went up with 95 octaine but still managed 270.15 bhp at the wheels, so maybe 285-290hp at the engine. Driving back if I booted it I noticed the engine cutting around 4000rpm, but with 97 octaine seems to be fine, and after speaking to my friend who used to have an MR2 Turbo he said that was to be expected and I should run 99 octane to get the best boost in power.

surely 270bhp at the wheels would be more then 290 at the fly?

You have got to be joking..Hamish has posted on this very forum that anything other than super is inappropriate...HE ALLOWED YOU TO R/R ON HIS EQUIPMENT KNOWING YOU WERE RUNNING PREMIUM?....PMSL...Quality....

    Engine cut at 4k?...eh ......?...

Big Pete, do you have any idea what you are talking about?...

I think you are in cloud cuckoo land.....

The "origional" RICA was a great chip but realistically no 14 year old car will ever reach its claims of 304 brake, to think it will is naive...

As i said before Charts Please....

    Cheers
