1998 v70r 'fault in the engine electronic system'

drove the car to work today and when I came out to go
back home the light on the dash under the handbrake light stayed on.

when I check the hand book it says "fault in the engine electronic system"

can anyone make any suggestions on what to do now - as am a complete novice when it comes to car mechanics?

    thanks
    ken

Was it staying on with the car running or off?

Maybe it is the Alternator if the car is running.

Or any good garage will do it as Volvo will charge you £25 for the pleasure.
You could also buy a code reader (as lots of Volvo owners do) and read the codes yourself and post the errors here for assistance
