Is it saying in the window on the side start prevention try again?
If it is the Immoblizer then it will usually say that in the message window.

Hmm long story - there seems to be a sequence

ABS and STC lights show whilst driving then both go out and the next time you try to start the window shows Immobiliser - refer to handbook I think

24 hours later car starts until next series of events - I think

I wonder of the ABS module is bad and it is causing the problem.
Here is the U.S. there is a ton of problems with the ABS module and I have seen them shut cars down before.

If you would like I can link you to a post on another forum to open it up and check the connections and possibly fix them yourself.

Not sure how handy you are.

sounds possible - it only happens after these lights coming on but I have the turn the car off - abs lights having been flashing like a xmas tree since I had the car two years ago - got to the feeling that this was normal for a modern fly by wire car!

Ifyouve got the link handy otherwise I'll search on ABS Module

What year is yours. It will be the same setup till I think it was 2003 or 2004 models then they changed to another style which goes bad as well.
But that fix works for all the 850's,S70's,V70's,S80's, And S60's.
There is only minor differences between the modules and it is usually only form tracs, stc, dstc, and normal.

So if yours is a 2001 or 2002 then it will be the same.
