    Porsche brake upgrade on V70R

Hi, first off i know this is basically the same question as Chads but i dont like highjacking someone elses thread.

I am looking at upgrading the front brakes on MY99 V70R to a porsche set-up but was after some expert advice on the best way to go about this
Where can i obtain brake caliper adapters?
    Which calipers are most suitable?
What size disks can i expect to fit on the standard 17"S?
    Thanks for your input.
    Mark.

    Hiya,

brackets from C J Yother in the USA, or IPD (ipdusa.com) also in the USA.

I've got 993 twin turbo front calipers in black, known as 'Big Red'. I got them brand new off eBay from (you guessed it) the USA.

The discs you want to use are the Volvo S60R AWD front discs which are actually Brembo discs if I remember rightly. They're 330mm diameter and a bit thicker than the 302mm discs - 32mm maybe? Talk to forum member Rufe on here for a discount (he works in a Volvo dealership parts department).

Be careful choosing the wheel as only a few 17" wheels will fit over these calipers. I tried several options. Volans would have needed 16mm spacers and that was more than I wanted to run. 17" Tethys didn't clear, would have needed spacers. Titans wouldn't clear. 18" Tritons also needed at least a 12mm spacer. Even 19" non-genuine Pegasus wouldn't clear without spacers. I ended up with genuine 17"x8J Pegasus, and still used 3mm spacers.

I would use AP mate, lot easier to fit and lots of wheels to choose from that fit with this application,

lol......i wouldnt have minded if you did hijack it, cause its the same subject.

ok, heres what ive found out.

to put the porsche 993tt calipers on the front you need the calipers (obviously), porsche pads, s60r discs and brackets. the brackets for the front and rear are available from a guy on volvospeed called CJ. he supplies them for $135 + shipping (a pair)

And for the rear you need s60r calipers, discs, pads and again the brackets.

or he can supply the full sets front and rear.

$995 for the rear and $1500 for the fronts

    hope this helps

Cheers for the sound advice guys.
The 'R' is going in for the dreaded MOT tomorrow so depending on how much that costs me will look into this more seriously.
