    850 or V70 Door Handles ?????

Ive seen a couple of 850's now with V70 door handles.

Can the 850 handles be painted the same colour or is it not really worth it ?

Is it easy enough to change the handles over ?

Ive just painted the wing mirrors including the grey section the same silver as the car and they look quite good

    Cheers Guys

You can paint the 850 ones but because they have a groove in them they'd need a lot more work, it's just easier to fit the V70 ones.

just go to a car-braker and get yourself V70door handles, paint them,

slap them to your car...............looks like new.

one of the easiest/cheapest upgrades(in my opinion a must)

Couldn't agree more, I think the 850 door handles date the car.

They're a doddle, open the door look on the back side, there is a triangular plastic cover, remove that and there's two torx screws, undo those and the handle just lifts out. Personaly I've not bothere'd with the door lock as the car has central locking anyway, however, the locks are held in place with a c lip and again just swap over, five minutes a door to change them.

I still have the tailgate lock, it'd be a bit undignified crawling through but it still allows me access to the car in the event of a Bat flattery...

Hahaha, That bring's me back to my previous 850 T-5 which I had about 3 years ago,
I bought it from a Volvo head technician here in Ireland and he had used it as his project for a few years, doing some serious engine & suspension work in the process..... It was a hell of a lot faster than my current 850R.
The thing was, there had been so many attempt's to steal it over the years, he had put in numerous alarm/immobiliser's to deter them, his final security measure was to remove all door lock's and the boot lock, he then cut a circular hole behind the rear reg plate and put a chubb lock in there!! I had the car parked at the house while on holiday and when I returned the battery was flat..... What a job to get into it!! lol
I had to remove the reg plate, then open the chubb lock which allowed me to release the boot. Then, I had to climb inside and fold down the rear seats, eventually when I got to pull the handle to open the door.... the deadlock's wouldn't allow them to open, so I had to open the bonnet, connect the battery then I could open it using the remote........ NEVER AGAIN!!! I sold the car to a friend who still own's it, I have warned him never to allow it to happen to him as he's about 25 stone!!! We still joke about it.....

Would the V70 handles fill in the recesses behind the 850 handles?

    Cheers

Eh?....The V70 handles fit exactly the same as the 850 ones except they're colour coded.

Perhaps some confusion over the newer (phase 2?) V70 handles that sit inside the door indentations and get lifted up, rather than the 850 and phase 1 V70 handles that come out as a handle to pull out?

Think only the very late 850s had colour coded tailgate handle trim. My '97 model year does but I don't think all the earlier cars do.

    best pic ive got.

They are real easy to change, 2 screws and a bit of fiddling about.

The 850 items do date the car.. as tomcat said

    Shaun850,
Thanks for that pic as I have toying with the idea of chrome V70 P1 handles. Your pic has persuaded me to go for matching black.
    Much obliged.

Are the 2 front door handle's de-locked on the V70's?
I am now considering changing my handles on the 850 to colour coded V70's...
If so, do you just remove 850 lock's from original handle's and refit newer V70 without the ability to open door's with key?
