Unhappy Can a remap turn itself off!! ME7!!

Last night I was out working & the was car driving fine. I come to a de restricted road ( I was on the Isle of Man again honest gov) so 3rd gear planted it upto about 90 odd and it went well I had to slow down again and it was lacking performance ( bit like heatsoak) anyway each time I had chance to give it a bit it felt standard no tc light flashing like normal no faultcodes. So I got to my next destination and the car had a rest for an 1hour and still the same no Weeoo just a very faint standard like spool up and flat linner normal performance of a standard T5 not a tunned one.
Anyway I put her to bed for the night hoping she might have repaired herself overnight, but alas no, she feels like a stock p2! Ive booked her in at DPA for a further inspection and a couple of other bits, but I cant think for the life of me whats wrong. I know if it was something like an air leak it would throw a fault code, If the turbo was worn more gradual not just on off.
but its like it turned the remap off on itself!

Anyone want to hazard an educated guess?

    NO.

The car can however still go into 'limp mode' or 'default' and on a tuned car this will often feel similar to a standard car.

Your best bet is to take the car to a specialist (like DPA) and find out what the problem is. I'm sure it is something simple (probably mechanical rather than software related).

    Regards,
    Hamish.

Would it normally throw a fault code on the dash if it went it to limpmode, or does it have to run really bad, as I was under the impression ME7 through a fault code dead easy if its not 100%.

Yeah I drove it like a bitch (police car style with horns and hazzards)one night when my father was very ill in hospital and then it dropped power after 10 mins. Then its happened a couple of time once when I was on ze autobahn one minute it struggled to 145 then I backed off and went for it again and straight to 160with more in reserve! But before its always come back after a kip or even the next time you push the load peddle, bloody ME7!! But hey shes one of the first p2 and done 140k, just hope its a quick cheap fix!

Im 99.9% sure the bulbs are working plus its got the onboard message system thing.

I had a map that did EXACTLY that, (except for staying lame). Now I don't.

    First things first though.

Check your charged air hoses, especially the fat rubber elbow down by the dipstick which connects to the intercooler. I've split 2 of those now and when they go the car feels very very "standard" It's easy to remove with a screwdriver, inspect it closely for splits. They are very prone to failure on re-mapped P2 cars.

Failing that, get it connected to VIDA/DICE or VADIS/VCT and get a live data log done. That will show where you are having issues.

I have VADIS and a VCT2000 which I can see all engine parameters in live graphical format directly from the car. Any dealer can do this for you. You will see straight away what is going wrong and why.

You may find that you are going in and out of limp mode due to a parameter being out of range.

Don't blame the ME7 as it's trying to help. Quite probably, if it didn't intervene, you'd now be looking at a pile of bolts instead of your engine.

Well all sorted thanks to DPA, turned out to be split pipe between Boost Valve and Turbo, there were codes when they pluged her in, but nothing in the drivers info centre. But she now flys again its amazing after a few days I had forgoton how fast she is!

Im sure Hamish will perform his magic Dave.

Ive however just been in something that makes mine feel slow again, a client/mate just took me out in a 54 plate E55 AMG kompresser, with seats that move to support on the twistys, 0-60 4.5 seconds!! But hey the build quality is poo and if it goes wrong ££££!! I have to keep telling myself that!

I know they say the build is not so good on modern mercs - but is that really the case?
