    13g V 16t swap

    just a quick question really,. are there any differences in the mounting flanges, between the two,. ie,. would a 16t be a direct swap for the 13??

    As long as you get the straight outlet 16T then its a straight swap. But you'll need a remap to get the most out of it, as its mapped for a smaller turbo that kicks in at lower rpms.

    I'm guessing its the 2.5 LPT engine (which the 13G was fitted to), you'd have to be careful how much boost you put through at lower rpms as this can cause some problems in the 2.5 engine.

    16T turbo, downpipe and exhaust system upgrade, bigger injectors and a remap will give you somewhere in the region of 280bhp.

    do you have anymore info in the problems that could occure with the b5254t
    i know main difference against the b5234t is the thinner cylinder liners, are they prone to damage anyway,.. or just with inaccurate settings?

    i know of the thinner liners,..and know the rods are shared with that of the b5234t,.. so what is it thats specific to the b5254t that can in some cases cause problems with boost input at low rpm,..
    or is that just it,. in sense that the rods cannot handle much at all??

    i cannot see the thinner liners being too much of a problem if the engine is set up correctly

    The B5254t lump in yours is the older version of that used in the newer Focus St isn't it?http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?t=18401 This is a thread someone else has been asking about which refers to the newer LPT 2.5 engine.

    it isnt a route i would want to take, but then ive had a 2435cc block crack on a standard car.....

    dont forget the compression ratio is also higher on the lpt engines.....

    cheeres for the link alan, pnut, compe ratio is higher at 9.0:1 over the 8.5:1 but its nothing that could cause serious problems with correctly ajusted engine and specific components. jus gathering info at the mo, real work is going to come in over next year when i should have a project for uni.

    the main thing you need to remember is to get a map that doesnt give high boost in low rpm try to get one that is progressive

    if thats the main cause of engine faliure then, its not much of an issue,. im going to be looking into a few diff ways of boost controll and limited boost outputs as a pesonal project
