    NO engine response

I have had this problem happen only twice but it is raising a few alarm bells.

Basically the car is at a stand still , ticking over when the accelerator pedal is pressed to move but there is no increase in revs and the engine idle speed dosn't change.

Then it seems ok and off i fly.

The worring thing is that if i were to pull off into busy traffic , i would get the same and have an accident.

ETM was cleaned & software upgraded last year. No eml lights are on either.

    Any ideas ????

Sounds like a dirty/knackered throttle potentiometer/position sensor, although I'm not sure if the throttle pot is separate on these models.

if it is the ETM .........sounds to me like the etm is ready to drop dead (imho)

at least it cant go into limp mode
the softare upgrade is a bit of a swizz as it alters the way that the ecu throws the ets light on (a worn etm causes electrical noise that triggers the light)
and removes the capability of it going into limp mode.
be prepared to have a fight with your dealer to get it replaced for free.
Theres a good few people that have taken volvo to court for the money back on a new ETM

I just hope its something going down like a coil or a fuel blockage.
But as these engines seem to be fairly reliable i wouldnt hold too much hope.

let us know how you get on with it
