Angry cut out when pulling up to a stop!!!!

has any body got any ideas? my 1998 c70 GT T5 me7 cuts out when i pull up ot junction etc.. i had a maf problem (big flat spot an no power) and that has been change but now the car cuts out when the rev's drop. (when pulling up) most of the time the rev's setlle back to 750 rpm but sometimes it just dies!!
it is fine till it is warmed up then the trouble starts :-(
when the maff was gone i had the codes 1171 + 1174 came up but when the maf was changed the codes never came back but the stalling prob remains....
if i dont fix it soon i am going to try fixing with a BIG hammer lol
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about a faulty Feul Pump!

Whe the Rpm gets low then an old 740 I used to drive kept on cutting out.

However if it starts up straight after everytime, then it might not be the feul pump.

Is the engine running rough, irregular rev movements?

looking at your avatar picture - you have a ME7 engine so going by others experiences I would suggest having the ETM checked/cleaned etc as this seems to be a common problem - if you do a search you might find more info on it.. I can't talk from first hand experience as I have the old reliable cable throttle! lol!

EDIT: just realised you have a dump valve etc installed on an ME7 car - did you have these problems before installing the dump valve?

I had this problem on my me7 v70 t5 last year! really annoying, especially in a multy-storey car park! lol

i think what cured the problem was a new MAF and something to do with the throtle sensor?? but if you've already changed the maf, perhaps the new one is faulty aswel? was it brand new or second hand??

    hope this helps!

    brand new
when it was changed it stoped all of my flat spots ect. and sorted out my loss in power, but my car has been stalling out for some time now but it is getting worse.....
thought it could be something to do with the fuel pressure or what you were saying a faulty throtle position sensor, or maybe a lambda sensor or cam sensor etc....im just left scratchin my head lookin dumb what do you think i should try first?//

internet diagnostics are always generally 'best guess' or based on experience.. with yours being a little trickier I would be inclined to take it to a reputable garage (volvo specialist/indy) and get a proper diagnostic done on it instead of guessing and throwing money at it.. at least you'd know for certain what you would be dealing with then?..

under the plug cover there are 2 or 3 earths
i advise you to clean those up and the bolts and washers and the earth that goes from the bulkhead to the back of the engine.
I noticed that the ME7 engine relies heavily on having good earths for the individual coils.
Dont keep chopping and changing sensors willy nilly as its very costly.
Go for the simple things 1st.
put a voltage meter across the earths and see that your getting full voltage there.
It sounds like something is breaking contact when you come to a stop so make sure you check all the earths and also check that all the plugs and connectors are clipped in properly.
if all that fails then it could well be the ETS unit.
Have a look what colour sticker is on the ETS unit.
If its a white sticker it is the original one and if its a yellow sticker its a recon unit.
If the car has had the factory ETS software upgrade it is alot harder for the ets light to come on.
The ETS has 2 potentiometers either side that consist of "fingers" on a carbon track.
if the throttle is returning down to a certain rpm where the carbon track is worn it can cut out but only seen this once before on a cabriolet 2001 car with 67k miles.

good luck with the earths and i hope it solves the problem for you.
let us know how you get on

I had exactly that same problem a few months ago, my service guy removed the wiring plugs and leads on the top of the engine, if you can see it, unplug it, gave them all a squirt with cleaner, put everything back and problem cured, could have been lucky, but your symptoms are a mirror of mine.

To say there was a problem is an understatement!

So much so, that if you book into your nearest Volvo Dealer they will clean the ETM and download an updated software free of charge (mileage has to be under 200k). Recommend you double check first as I had mine done about 6 months ago and they may have discontinued this good will offer.
I'll be baaak! Hasta La Vista, Baby!
