Exhaust with a bit more burble

My stock (as far as I know) exhaust is just starting to make a little more noise than usual, as the MOT is due in February I won't replace it until then. This leaves me a bit of time for people to put their recommendations for an exhaust with a bit more of a burbly sound in this thread.

I heard a Scorpion exhaust on youtube, it was on a '94 855 T5 and it sounded lovely, however Scorpion don't seem to supply them anymore for the T5s. Any other suggestions please?

Cheers, I don't want it quite that burbly though! I was thinking half way between his and a standard one.

you're probably best going for a custom exhaust - if you have a decent custom stainless steel exhaust place near you??.. that way you'll get exactly what you want in terms of looks and sound and it will probably be made with better quality stainless steel (304/316) as compared to some off the shelf brands that use 409 stainless.

Cheers for that, I'd never considered a custom exhaust to be honest. I guess there must be somewhere in or around London that does customs. Google ahoy!

    How much was yours?

Opposite side of London, but to be honest I like the job to be done well and properly rather than cheap and conveniently. I'll give them a ring.

    Cheers matey!

cool!! - let us know how you get on.. the only other bit advice I would offer is if you are going down the custom route to go and see their work first hand - you'll get a feel for the place then and will be able to see example of what they're capable of.

Will do, I have to say that their website is exceptionally impressive and from the images their work is rather fine.

H and S are one of the best manifold fabricators around, but they do cost though,

There is a place in Croydon that does custom exhausts http://www.longlife.co.uk/?gclid=CPX...FRqH1Qod9Wer5g

I think a lot depends on whether they have done the specific car before as they will have the pattern/template for it. I'm sure their Subaru exhausts are relatively cheap (c£300), but they probably benefit from economies of scale! lol!

Well there's no pattern for the S70 T5 so they want the car for three days to do a completely fresh custom job on it.

Full system from the cat back is £550.

Full system from the turbo back is £700 (with a decat pipe).

Full system from turbo back with a 100 cell racing cat is £1150.

That's including fitting but doesn't include VAT, saying that I can put this kind of stuff through the company and claim the VAT back anyway. Definitely more than I thought but given their standard of workmanship and that they don't have a pattern it's to be expected.

Might carry on looking, the value of the car doesn't really warrant spending over a grand on the exhaust no matter how good it is.

    **EDIT**

Should just add that this is a quote from Hayward and Scott and not Longlife Exhausts.

Hayward and Scott systems are excellent and the quality of work and time that goes into them is outstanding. I know of one that I have seen in the flesh on an Escort cosworth and it was flawless. They use the best quality products too so I guess the prices may seem high but they are at the top of custom market for exhausts in this country going by write ups I've read on them. Mike Rainbird's Escort Cosworth has one (hes big in the performance ford world) and I know this is a Volvo forum but the same quality of workmanship would be involved in the production of any of their systems wouldn't it?

Should be, as Pangster said he's heard nothing but good about them. I've been chatting to Ian (the manager there) and he's very informative and helpful. Their website shows a massive attention to detail as does their workmanship (from what I see). If my chrimmy bonus is a good one this year then I might just say f*ck it and treat myself, after all I want to get 300k from my car before retiring it to a weekend 'classic' and it looks like an H&S exhaust will last that long without issue.

    Red face

    found my reciept,
my longlife 100 cell cat and catback exhaust cost £458
    single suitcase single exit

they also upgraded the tail pipe to a £50 one for free!
'cause they had no cheap ovals in stock

I used longlife leeds, gr8 bunch took about 7 hours, min 2 lads fabricating at 1 time.
    recommended.

I've not written in a while, just keep peeping,
I wont use the PC's at work as they whines about trojans etc so miss out loads.
