Stereo wiring

Can anyone tell me the stereo wiring colour coding i.e what colours are the live/earth/speaker wires on the plug that fits into the rear of the stereo.Ta.

Don't know about the speakers but from memory the permanent live is YELLOW, the switched live is RED and the earth is BLACK.

As I say, this is from memory so I could have the red and yellow the wrong way round but I seem to recall being surprised that switched was red as I expected red to be permanent.

Have you got a circuit tester? Easiest way to tell.

Are you fitting a new stereo? If so, you can buy an Autoleads leads which converts the Volvo plug into a standard ISO plug rather than cutting the wires.
