I have one on my 850 T5, i cant say ive noticed any difference in performance, just more people turn to see where the loud pppsssssssssshhhhhhhh noise came from.

I did have a leak but ive rectified that now, just make sure if you get one that you get the proper fitting kit with it.

Theres all sorts to go for i have a Forge Twin Piston DV, dont whatever you do buy a single piston one as they have been known to stick open and wreck engines big time.

Stick to a well known brand i.e. Bailey, or Forge and you'll be ok.

Some people like them other people hate them, each to their own i say.

Also theres not much point i dont think in putting one on an Auto, you'd only get the noise when you lifted of the accelerator and not as its changing gear, i think they were made to release the pressure during gear changes to allow better throtle response.

Stainsey has a DV on his Auto, PM him and ask him what he thinks.

    Hiya,

the DV36 is even louder than the DV26. I think eBay is usually pretty good for these kinds of things?

Just for anyone thinking of fitting a dump vlave to their Volvo - "Blown off Valves" (BOV) or "Dump Valves" (DV) as they're called, don't make any difference to performance. They're just shiny, make a loud "Ptsssssh" noise when you change gear (when you take your foot off the gas) and you get lots of respect from anyone looking under your bonnet.

For all throttle cabled C/V/S70's engines (with a turbo), there shouldn't be a problem fitting a Dump Valve. But if you own a engine with ETM, forget fitting a Dump Valve. The ME7 engine doesn't like them one little bit and for all the hundreds of nightmare stories I've heard of ME7 engine's throwing hissy fits when a Dump Valve is fitted, I believe I've heard one good story about one ME7 engine that did like it (but in all probability, the owner was probably just lying )

Bottom line is; if you've got a 1998 Phase 1 Volvo C/V/S70 with a turbo charger - fit a DV and you won't regret it.

    No probs Mark.

You're car will already have a Dump Valve fitted (It's a standard one and it dumps imternally instead of externally and with the accompanied loud "Ptsssh" like the above ones).

Almost every modern turbo ever made has had a dump valve fitted to help prolong the life of the turbine and associated parts.

cegC70t fitted one, no plate, works fine.

I'm planning the same, just got a DV36 off fleabay for £57!

I think I have worked out the vacum hose, just need to know where the DV goes on!

    Not sure about that pipe!

Doing a thread on it in mod & tuning.... we'll see!

    Good luck!

Nope - you don't need a blanking plate.

it sounds like a con to get more cash out of you, I'm guessing either way the gasses go somewhere!

    Forge appear to be swindling!

not sure if u should run both dv think it can cause boost issues the blanking plates are easily enough made yourself so if somebodys got the pattern to one could they email the specs or post it up.

I agree that there may be some boost issue (minor I would assume) however, getting, fitting, or as you suggest make one, would pretty much be a lot of hassle, effort or work for little reward.

As stated by myself & DAC, no issue, no need!

If there's a budget & you're doing it yourself, I'd leave it! Coldn'y tell you where the plate goes anyways!!

    Cheers
