The next step of course is to break the badge fixings while taking it off/ putting back on.

So basically is this a case of removing the Volvo square badge and the 45 degree "slash" bit then spraying the grill black?
Looks pretty smart I must say, I'm due to spray my grill on the T4 satin black. Do you laquer it to seal it? Is it a straight bolt off jobbie? Seems to be from what I can see..plus how do you get the badgey bits off too?

    Thanks in advance......Mark.

Is it not metal on the 2001 S40's?

I recall giving mine a good clean with T-Cut when I first got the car as it was quite stained. Then realized I didn't really like the chrome look

I sanded the chrome back with a detail sander to make the paint stick, took some doing thats tough stuff.

Having already broken the badge and slash I then carefully removed the brackety bits with a junior hacksaw and filed them flat before giving it several coats of matt black paint.

I just gave mine a quick spray with "Plastikote" gloss black looks alright, but hats off to all sprayers out there, it took me ages to get the masking tape where I wanted, and there is still some overspray!
