    Shiny Dash

The dashboard on my C70 is really shiny and reflects onto the windscreen when it is sunny. (it's only a problem for about one week a year, stupid weather!!!).

I was wondering if the dash was supposed to be shiny and if there is anyway to make it dull.

    Cheers, Daniel

really depends on the colour of the trim - dark colour give less glare.

    Unhappy

My reflection on to the screen is there most of the daytime having a very light coloured dash whereas my previous t5 was darker and I never even noticed it I must admit it starts to bug me but short of changing the colour what can one do?

How do you go about changing the colour? I'm thinking of covering it with some nice tiger print fur. That should look nice. lol

This is a longstanding complaint... I even considered taking a sander to my dash at one point!

I've also seen an S70 dash covered in alcantara... (or however you spell it). That was nice.

I think it is a really good idea sanding your dash. You get on with it and let me know how it looks. lol

There is a simple solution guys, Polarised glass sunglasses, they don't 'see' the reflection of teh dash. I have an old pair of ray bans I leave in the car for exactly this reason.

A previous owner of one of my first T5s loved the silicone spray, especially on the dash, you couldn't see a bloody thing with the sun in your face,

There are specialist wipes out there called Matt wipes,

    Bread

sounds silly but try it, it absorbs the shiny part of the cleaner

don't believe me?? try it, you'll see, it will dull it down

my S70 has the dash covered in alcantara which works quite well and also is a lot easier to keep clean, think one of Fraz's m8's did it when he owned the car?

my dad has a V70 10 valve with a cream interior. The glare was quite bad so he stuck some dark material above the instrument binacle. Only issue was - it looks dreadful.

Second hand dash top in a dark colour will work. Beware if you have a passenger SRS bag. That makes the swap somewhat more tricky

I mentioned the bread as I remember doing wallpapering

when you use something like a wallpaper border glue (woodglue basically) if you dab the shiny dried on wallpaper bit it dulls it down a lot

thought why now try it on shiny dash
