Engine Service Required

Yesterday Morning I started car up and began my normal journey to work,after about 100 yards the DIM displayed ENGINE SERVICE REQUIRED message.After getting the codes read this morning I have been told its the clutch master cylinder weeping fluid onto the clutch position sensor,This in turn has now disabled cruise control .Been quoted £280 supply and fit of master cylinder and sensor by Volvo maindealers (Stratstones).

Hi,first thing you need to do is get an altenative quote from another volvo dealer or a good independent specialist as stratstones in my experience tend to use special tool no.999565623 (wallet extractor) at every given opportunity.(mind you,with 350 million debt it's hardly surprising) We have found significant price differences between dealers for the same job's and parts.If you let me know the part no's or vehicle reg (by pm of course) i will check and see if we have good used parts for you.

Got the car back now no fault codes at all..saw old master cylinder it was well ££££ed with nice coating of clutch/brake fluid.ended up paying alot less than quoted.
