    Question Turbo Upgrade?

Just wandering if a turbo of a four wheel drive cossie would fit onto a 850 t5?I have had my car back on the road for about 2 weeks, and tonite i thought i was seeing things when a cloud of smoke wafted past my window! The car was idling and i had just been giving it a bit of welly before.I had done the valve oil seals, pcv system, and i fitted a 16t i got of ebay.I am hoping its the turbo that has let go,if the Cossie one can be made to fit then its going on.
    Thanks in advance,Paul.

Probably need some sort of adaptor plate for the manifold but anything can be made to fit!

The T3 or T34 cossie turbo will go on but some major downpipe mods will be needed. You will need to grind off the lip on the T5 manifold. Clearance issues may be had so it may be worth just offering it up to the manifold while its on the head to see if and how it fits.

I forgot to add the smaller T3 is virtually the same in size and output as the 15g but the larger AR63 compressor on the larger T34 is bigger.

Right i had a play around with the Cossie turbo and yep its a wee bit closer to the bulkhead just by the eye.I think the actuator is going to be very close,if not touching!I willl try it this w-end,its the bigger of the two turbos you mentioned Alan.I can fabricate a downpipe to do it if all goes well, got the work van for the next couple of weeks so the car can be done at a leisurely pace.Paul..

Liking that turbo idea. I persume you have sufficient cooling for the turbo upgrade? When I ran the T34 on my cosworth I was seeing engine temps of 99 degrees (celsius) before I changed to a big intercooler.

The standard T5 intercooler can cope with up to around 400 bhp on a T5 so if the T34 is not pushed to far the temps should be kept in check if the system is healthy and up to sratch. It may be worth removing the aircon system which will definately aid with cooling, cause it wont be in the way of getting rid of all that lovely heat.
