Replacing clutch

I just wanted to get some views on this.. i think i'm living on borrowed time with my clutch - my cars done 106k miles now and it's still on the original clutch from what i can tell from the paperwork.. i don't think the clutch is slipping at the minute but it sometimes doesn't feel quite right.. after a drive it can feel a bit heavy and the biting point seems to change! it also makes a clicking noise? Anyone else had similar issues??

I'm thinking about getting it changed along with the slave cylinder - thinking about just getting it done at Volvo with OEM parts (i think my car has the dual mass flywheel on it) - does anyone have any idea how much this will cost at volvo?

Gday Bloke,my 96 R is the same spec and mine has squealed since i got it 4 yrs ago [58,000Klm] now 145,000Klm and the take up seems a bit varied too but if you give it the "berries" and make like roadrunner you will find thereis no problem.....I will do the clutch/ suspension springs/rear seals etc when it feels a bit worse as to do the job the engine comes out..Maybe the engine will get some tougher rods/NA cams/turbo...$$ permitting as well LOL!! Rather than spending several hundred pounds on it why not get the clutch fluid changed if its not been done for a few years? This won't alter the biting point but will make the clutch more positive, lighter and smoother and it should cost less than £40.

Volvo clutchs are pretty tough, I met a guy in Notts once with a phase 1 v70 T5 with 230k and still on the original clutch it was an ex demo and he had it since!
I drag raced my last one and it lasted 10k between burn outs before I decided to change it at 150K, my current one is on 135k and still ok and our 854 is on 112k and feeling a little tired but then again my Mrs isnt to kind to clutchs!

I got quoted £1500 to do the clutch, bearing and rear oil seal, by main dealer in Newcastle and Sunderland. Not surprisingly I went to a specialist Indy who charged under £600 and that included new gear box oil and OEM parts.

Oh and another garage(not main dealer ) reckoned a dual mass flywheel is £800 and only available from volvo but the guys in the garage i got mine done at reckon it's pretty rare for them to be the problem.

Tim - i think this might be the best initial step and then i can take it from there..

just had to get mine done as when clutch came out noticed flywheel had sideplay on it eep
200 quid and half hour labour

hi were you loacated at as i need a oil seal replaced at the back of the gear box i was going to get clutch and slave done at same time as the seal chears s70r at sunderland

ikp_77 I got my clutch done at a place in shiremoor Newcastle called autofix, they're specialists and really seem to know their stuff highly recommended. (see the preferred dealers section)
