    850 r is it a fair price?

    Hi ,
Ive being offered to buy a 850R estate manual 1996 with full volvo history all the bills and old MOTS with 73k on the clock for £3450 I have seen the car before and is in top condition with shiny red paintwork, i'm not sure whether to go for it because initially i wanted to try and find a v70 t5 or R, is there much difference between the early v70's and the 850 ? decisions -decisions

Calm down dear - I think he said it was a manual.

Usual book price for an estate of that mileage is about 5.5 - 6k.
    So long as it
all checks out on the V5,
it is as good as you say,
the FSH and receipts are all sorted/genuine,
    HPi clear
and it really is an 850R then I would BUY IT!

I would try to verify the mileage with previous MOTs if you can find them. Either the seller is clueless or there is a fishy smell around here.

Looks like you have may have stumbled over a real bargain. MT are rarer too.
Tread carefully and don't get too excited. I think we may have a winner.

I paid 4995 for my 1997 850R estate auto, 15 months ago with 131K on the clock.

In answer to the specifics of the models. The R's are the flagships of the fleet. My personal preference is
    V70R over a 850R
    850R over a V70 T5 phase1 or 850 T5
Estate over Saloon (but not by much)
Transmissions is down to what you like. I love both.
