Towbar Electrics 13pin to 7pin

I decided to hook up the trailer yesterday to my P2 V70 to take rubbish to the tip, now its never towed anything because when i bought the car the removable towball was unmarked, wrapped up in its bag and had a cable clip around it holding the locking key in place.
SO this was a big moment hooking it up, connected the trailer to the unmarked towball no problem but found the electrics are a 13pin connection on the car and the trailer had 7pin. Looks like i will be buying some sort of aftermarked converter for it or am i missing a trick?

(In the end i hooked it up to our other car with 7pin electrics and took that as didnt want to be caught without indicators)

volvo do a 13 pin to a twin 7 pin adapter cable for caravan use, they dont do a 13 pin to a single 7 pin adapter though.

the 13 pin is the European standard, instead of the UK's twin socket version

thanks, think i will get an aftermarket jobby then. is that ebay one reliable enough for ocassional use jonno12?

yes works ok on mine for the caravan just make sure it was the right one i posted as there was loads of them id email them and ask which one but im sure it was the one i posted hope it helps
