    MOT Looming nearer

It's due end of August, and i know of a few points that need a seeing to.

    1. ABS light is now on. Ran a check and (i forget which) i have a either a 314 or a 413 code come up. How hard is it to change these and how much are they?

    2. My brake pads seem to be rattling around a bit when not under load.

    3. Theres a knock from the back of the car. I know the exhaust hangers duff, but i've attached a temporary repair to this for now and it works,so i know it's not that.

    Any ideas?

Hi, the ABS could be a wheel sensor or the module itself. Can get them repaired for under £100 or do it yourself if you are handy with a soldering iron. The pads on mine rattle (non genuine parts and worn caliper carriers) cured by a dollop of copper ease on the carrier. Any knocking from the back and I would check the suspension bushes anti roll bar etc then check the dampers.

Cheers I've got next week off,so plenty of time for playing around with a pre MOT.
Paters good with a soldering iron,so i'll get him a bottle of Baileys, that should cover it

Aah,not too bad. Other things popped up over my holiday so didn't get to fix anything
It failed on the ABS fault,2 front brake flexi's and some bulbs
Come to think of it,i think he had the light switch in the wrong position for side lights when the engines off,so thats 2 less bulbs to fix.
Rear fogs not working since i changed to V70 clusters....any ideas?

    Right,planned/complete jobs for the weekend....

Clean up the ABS sensors and see what happens

Fog lights now working. Wasn't the bulb though,it wasn't making contact between the bulb holder and where the plug connects.

Front side/parking lights seem to work fine while the engines running, but won't come on when the engines switched off. All fuses are fine and there's power up to the fuse box. Will it hurt to run 2 new wires and splice them into the existing yellow wires?

While cleaning up the ABS stuff, be sure to check the reluctor rings VERY carefully for cracks. Rust tends to build up underneath them and eventually they let go, causing an ABS fault.

Once the sensors are out,i have some mild (ish) acid i use for alloys,i'll use that on them. I heard Malt Vinegar works wonders at removing rust
