    S40 Modding advice...

    Evening,

    I only joined a few weeks ago (just before the big crash) and am trying to find the saved version of my 1st post so that I can re-post it and update it with where I am now (with my problems)...

    In the meantime I would be grateful for advice on the following mods (can't afford anything too fancy or expensive) I'm considering: Strut brace & ECU remap.

    With regards to the remap what would be your recommendations and can anyone suggest a good place to get it done in or around S Wales?

    These guys (http://www.supertuning.co.uk/volvo-s...remap-825.html) estimate the following on my car (Volvo S40 2.0 T (2003) 163BHP Standard), as do http://www.upsolute.com/index.php?op...4&id_model=191.

    Power (hp): From 163 hp to 203 hp
    Torque (Nm): From 240 Nm to 310 Nm

    ... and http://www.race-tune.com/volvo.htm don't seem to do one for my car anymore.

    Are these sorts of gains possible without any further mods?

    I'd suggest a manual boost control, upgraded air filter, possibly change the turbo, and a straight though exhaust with a racing cat! that should keep you busy for a while.
    Then brakes and suspension to help keep it handling good.

    I am building up to the remap. All the other mods give a little and then the remap should pull them all together with a hell of a boost to boot!

    No probs mate I should've said that my strut brace was non oem and I'm not sure it actually makes any difference but it looks good under the bonnet

    I'm running mbc with 14psi with decat, 2.5 custom system and induction kit and i'm getting a bit more than that 203bhp!!! You will need to do induction and exhaust if you increase boost regardless of wether its a mbc or remap!
    I have a sparco strutbrace that cost me about £60 from Strutbracer! Refused to pay the £160 or so Volvo wanted!!!
