    S60R Xenon headlight

Ive stone chipped my headlight and have been quoted £750 by my dealer to replace and fit a new one. Erm any ideas on how I can get it fixed cheaper. For the time being have filled small hole with superglue and it seems to be holding out OK! Thanks

Hi Darren, dealers do vary in price,i bought one of those recently from Rybrooks in Warrington for less than £500 (part only),so i would phone round a bit, they are hard to get secondhand but if you are prepared to wait a bit and keep checking on Ebay then some will come up.There was a pair of the later plastic lens type on there recently for £300 which would have fitted and you could have sold on your spare glass lensed one.
    Regards,Adam.

I thought they were sealed units and you had to buy the whole lot - not just the lense.

The lens can be removed apparently, with careful application of some heat.

Was it a Volvo dealer that did the job and supplied the lens for you,i had noticed that new lenses are available on ebay usa but i assumed they had a non-bonded glass over there as the Volvo dealers up here will only sell you a lamp complete for any 2000> V70/S60.I had planned on heating one up when i had the time(one day) and have kept a selection for the purpose, some with stone chips and some with damaged backing but good glass.

    Hi,
    Part numbers from invoice were:
    Labour 35206
    Part (righthand lens) V08678137

Charges - Labour £136, Lens £70.50. The labour is so much because its a bumper off job

I did some digging on this at the Reddich Volvo Dealers and they told me the £700 price mark was for the light units from the 07 models which had the new style lights where the headlight would move with the power steering.

The Bi Xenon lights were the units which were around the £500 mark, also they told me about the lenses being available separate and that fitting had to be done by there glass fitters who are Auto Windscreens... apparently to set properly it takes 24 hours. I was told it was a cost of the best part of £200, better than £500, but its a shame that headlight lense units are not made, or are they??!!

    Check this...

    http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=56579

I think it would be worth getting a set of these as I have a couple of minor chips on my Bi Xenons, and lets face it they ain't cheap.
