    Wink TRACS switching itself off

    Hey, folks

Sometimes in the morning (When it's been really cold during the night), I start the car up and the TRACS light is lit on the dash.

I switch it off and everything is fine for a week or a month - basically until the next really cold night ocurrs...

What's happening and does anyone else get this?

I am guessing either your brake fluid needs changing or it's normal and part of the ice warning system?

Naaah - the brake fluid was done a few months prior to me buying the C70 and the ice warning system is a little snow flake that shows up on the dash. Nothing to do with TRACS and the S70 never did this strange thing...

    Really weird...

Wouldnt worry about it, tracs is crap anyway, saves you having to press the button to disable it lol.

I'm with Blackbeast. Tracs is only ever mildy useful in the snow / ice, and even then it just sounds like you've got something cought underneath the car. I would worry if the ABS packed in though.

Don't think it's really any good in the snow - stops you giving it stick and with throwing the steering about getting on - my lights always ON !

I'm getting this problem now, same symptoms only on really cold mornings now the car is living outside (been pitched out since the purchase of another car).

Can be switched back on of course, but what I really want to know, is this in any way linked to the ABS? Is this an early warning of trouble with the ECU or are they separate?

I have exactly the same symptoms on a 1997 V70- has done it for > 1 year. In cold weather, starting from cold the tracs light stays on. Light can be turned off if desired. ABS light comes on and goes off as it should.

My guess is that it is ABS ecu related- but I'm not going to worry unless the ABS light starts playing up.

If anything it does seem to be occuring more frequently - or perhaps that's just global cooling making itself known..
