    Tiresize for winter????

    I need some advice.

Which of these 3 sizes are preferable - 205/40-17 or 215/40-17 or 215/45-17??

My car is a standard T5R wagon that is not lowered ????

I want to use my 17" TITANS for winter

I have a decent set of winter-wheels, but I just HAVE the look of a Yellow T5R with these boring wheels. I believe ½ of the T5R's identity lies in the colour combined with the TITANS

It would look a lot worse if it sideswipes a tree on snow! I think i would rather look a **** with the wrong wheels than employ a panel beater.....you could do worse than vredestein winter tyres....

Plus, what about the corrosion from salt on the rims? I had to replace a gold rim on the rear of my motorbike due to salt corrosion. I think I would opt for 16" columba or perfos and a decent set of winter tyres, and put good summer ones on the Titan's

I think aslong as the size is the same on all wheels it dosent matter, whats most important is the tread and lots of grip!

something else to maybe bear in mind is that a narrower tyre will cut through the greasy road better.

I used to own 2cv's with 125/50/r15 tyres and these were fantastic for snow.
Next time there is a rally on in the snow check out the snow tyres, they are like dustbin lids!
I would suggest you fit steels with 185/55/r15 and wax up your Titans and put them away for the winter. All that salt an slush will play havoc with them.
If you really wanted to pamper your car, clean it and then wax it then leave the wax and dont polish off until after the winter.

Alternatively get yourself a early T5 saloon for use as a winter hack or even a 760, you will appreciate the power more when you get your T5R back in the springtime.

760 is a lot of fun in the wet and snow - ~170Bhp and rear wheel drive, no traction or LSD

    Not much else, yet...

Fersackly, and it won't matter too much if you scrape it.

You can also use ACF50, us bikers use it on motorcycles to stop the corrosion from salt. You just spray it on or you can get greaselike compound. The US navy use it on the aircraft on aircraft carriers. Not cheap but very good, I use it on the bike rims all the time!
