Have tried them all and for me there is no comparsion with the Ferodo performance or DS2500 [also at a good price from VT] it's all right saying that you rarely need that extreme braking capibility because you drive at a steady pace but these emergencies happen as we all know.

Point taken for the DS2500 but the Ferodo Performance pad does not fall into that catagory and I have found it to be a far better allrounder than the std volvo or so called police spec pad.

All pads are crap till they have been worn in race or standard, I never had a problem with DS performance pads and my insurance company had no problem with them either.

Interesting thread, I guess the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Gary, you don't have an issue with DS25000s - how many people have actually used DS25000s? (in addition to the people who have posted that they have used 'em so far in the thread)

You're right Gary, I remember Don posting about the law regarding post 2001 cars - the VOC forum appears to be off-line at the moment due to reconfiguration.

Im not sure that it ever got to the point of why the pads were restricted by law to the pre 2001...
Still we will not know for a day or two....

Yeh we did amongst other things basic reason is to stop cheap imports etc. killing peeps but it also stops you using a better pad than originally fitted such as the DS2500 RACE PAD, here's a quote..........

Requirements of 71/320/EEC Annex XV and EC Regulation 90.01 - Replacement Brake Linings

There are requirements for the physical characteristics, braking performance and packaging for replacement lining assemblies. The replacement linings are tested against the original equipment linings to ensure that they match the performance within certain tolerance bands. Certain tests can be conducted either on a dynamometer or on a representative vehicle and MIRA can arrange for either tests to be conducted using the method chosen by the customer.

Well i think thats complete B0llox Gary.., i appreciate the need to stop cheap imports and legislation is required for this but i cannot see the reasoning behind the outlaw of pads that exceed the OE characteristics....

    Anyway im off weekend tuning.....
