    Recognise this?

Having replaced my suspension I have found a new, mysterious and exotic noise coming from the front driver's wheel area.
If the car has load, ie in gear and holding speed or accelerating then there is no noise. If the car is in gear and lifting the throttle when moving the noise happens until there is load. If I drop the clutch whilst lifting the throttle, the noise goes. Mysterious, eh?

The noise itself is a knocking noise, that is best described as the sound a mouse ball would make if rattled inside a wooden box very quickly. There is a rhythm to it also. It's quite loud, you'd hear it over the stereo.

Anyone got an idea? Garage people in the midlands take note, as I don't really have the time to fix this myself at the moment

    noise

    maybe a cv joint worn
or maybe check the hub nut on the end of the drive shaft
or it mite be an engine mount worn,
when on over run the engine moves forward & vibrates to a close part of subframe,

so was it the wheel bolts?

if not maybe check you haven't lost an anti rattle spring off the caliper or jack the car up and turn the wheel by hand and see if you can figure it out...

UPDATE: Or it could be the CC sensor up the swanny?, the Chibaty Chap.

    Hope this helps.

ah, excellent. ...done that enough in the past, so eager to get out and test drive that I've forgotten to tighten the wheels up!
